I know NO ONE who is dating/married to a chef and to be perfectly honest no one I know actually gets it! They don’t understand how hard it is, they don’t understand how many days turn in to nights, then turn in to mornings of waiting. They don’t understand the sacrifices we make to get that 5 minutes, that quick hug and a kiss goodnight.

Hi Karen. The hours during restaurant openings are definitely worse than normal chef hours, but normal hours still tend to be really long, and opposite of 9-5 jobs.
